Ultra thin
The thickness of traditional LCD TVs is usually about 10cm. LED backlighting is more common in notebook computers. When used in TVs, the thickness of the body has become thinner.
Energy saving
CCLF cold cathode fluorescent lamps, the backlight used in traditional LCD TVs, contain mercury that is harmful to the human body. Although manufacturers are trying to reduce the mercury content in fluorescent tubes, completely mercury-free fluorescent tubes will bring some new technical problems. The LED backlight contains absolutely no mercury and is in line with the green and environmentally friendly fashion. LED backlights are also very energy efficient. The internal driving voltage of LED is much lower than CCFL, and the power consumption and safety are better than CCFL.
Long life
The rated service life (half-bright) of different CCFLs ranges from 8,000 to 100,000 hours. The service life of CCFL backlights with improved designs to enhance performance will be even lower. The LED backlight can reach about twice that of CCFL. Therefore, the service life of LED backlights is usually longer than that of CCFLs.
Wide color gamut
In fact, it is the quality of the picture. According to the different emitting colors, LED can be divided into white LED backlight and RGB-LED backlight. The main advantage of white LED technology is lower power consumption, while the advantage of RGB-LED backlight is excellent color expression. RGB-LED backlight uses LED devices that can emit high-purity red, green, and blue light to achieve a wide color gamut that cannot be achieved by traditional CCFL light sources. The current mainstream RGB-LED backlight can already reach 105% of the NTSC color gamut, and LED devices with more powerful performance can achieve more than 120% of the NTSC color gamut.
For LCD TVs, its unique imaging principle that uses the arrangement changes of liquid crystal molecules to control external light determines that the LCD panel is the key to the display effect. Therefore, when purchasing a TV, the key indicator is whether the product uses a high-quality panel. LED does not play an absolute role!
